Pick-up lines are in and waiting three days to follow up after a date is out: The new relationship rules revealed

The writers of cult Nineties dating guide The Rules would have us believe that one should wait three days to follow up after a date. But according to a new survey, that advice is now outdated.
Online dating site eHarmony found that 73per cent of women and 71per cent of men branded the traditional idea 'ridiculous'.
The research, conducted in honour of the London Olympics, saw 20,12 of its U.S. users polled about dating etiquette.

Instead, an overwhelming 89per cent of men and 77per cent of women would go on a same-day date if they were available.
The hard-to-get gameplan is not completely outmoded though. In fact, it is not just women who are at it: 41per cent of men admit to playing it cool.

Over half of both sexes admitted to searching a potential date's name on Google or Facebook before meeting them.
And contrary to popular belief, 44per cent of women admitted to liking the cheesy pick-up line approach.
